The theme of the album is Communication. The style is a mixture of classic synth electronica through trance, dance, ambient and synthpop.
My music draws upon a wide range of influences. From the experimental sounds of early synth pioneers such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk, through Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre; the various guises of Brian Eno; the world of synthpop; Mike Oldfield-style blends of instrumentals and vocals, new age/ambient sounds of Enigma and outright dance beats such as Robert Miles.
On this album, I was particularly interested in bringing together a wide range of styles. As my previous album "Perception" was mostly instrumental, on this album I set about to add more vocals but with a specific brief to make them different; some spoken, some using vocoders and some sung naturally. The album opens with the trance/ambient influenced "Serenity". The title tracks are tied together using a combination of chord structures and lyrical themes. Turn Back Tonight is full-on synth pop in the style of Pet Shop Boys. Information/Interaction is a Kraftwerk-influenced slice of electronica. The album ends with The Promise, a proper Ibiza dance workout with lyrics that are very personal; reflections of life, death, friendship and dreams that last forever.
Two-years in the making, Silent Voices is ready to be heard!

The Promise (Radio Edit)

The song was inspired by a sample of a man speaking philosophically, discussing life, death and friendship. I had already written an up-tempo song and thought it would be interesting to match the deep, meaningful words with the high energy music. As I listened, the words resonated deeply with me and reminded me of my friend of mine from childhood who died. This inspired me to write and sing the lyrics about our friendship and keeping our childhood dreams alive.
